A recent panel discussion held by TRENDS Research & Advisory at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025 highlighted the necessity of balancing technological advancements with digital security as artificial intelligence (AI) continues to evolve rapidly.

This event marked the launch of the publication “AI and Cybersecurity: Balancing Innovation and Security in the Digital Age,” authored by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, the Chairman of the UAE Cyber Security Council.

The session delved into the various challenges and opportunities that AI introduces in the cybersecurity realm, focusing on the intricate relationship between AI technologies and digital protection strategies. Experts and officials gathered to discuss crucial topics, including AI-driven cyber threats, the necessity of ethical guidelines, and the significance of predictive analytics in mitigating potential future risks.

Following the discussion, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti signed copies of his book in the presence of H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology. Dr. Al-Jaber commended the scientific efforts that align with modern digital demands and bolster cybersecurity frameworks. The book provides a thorough academic evaluation of AI’s integral role in combatting rising cyber threats in a connected digital world.

The publication examines how AI tools, such as machine learning and big data analytics, have become essential in creating effective cybersecurity measures. They enable proactive strategies for early threat detection and analysis of suspicious activities. However, the author also addresses the drawbacks of these advancements, including AI-based cyberattacks, algorithmic biases, privacy breaches, and the challenges faced by legal systems in adapting to new technologies.

Distinguished by its comprehensive approach, the book combines academic insights with practical examples by analyzing real-world case studies from diverse environments. It offers actionable recommendations for policymakers, decision-makers, and professionals in both public and private sectors, underscoring the pressing need for ethical regulations governing AI utilization in cybersecurity without hampering innovation.

This work serves as a critical reference for those invested in the future of digital security and as a resource for organizations seeking to harness AI effectively. It aims to enhance system resilience while laying the groundwork for a more secure and sustainable digital landscape. At the same time, TRENDS’ pavilion at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair continued to engage visitors with an array of scientific works, including original publications and interactive tools, reinforcing its commitment to supporting young researchers and advancing scientific dialogue.
