In a recent discussion with TimesTech, Vishal Salvi, the CEO of Quick Heal Technologies, shared insights into India’s changing cybersecurity threat environment. He highlighted how Seqrite utilizes AI and machine learning, along with behavior-based detection methods, to remain proactive against evolving threats. Salvi emphasized the importance of addressing zero-day attacks and compliance with the DPDP Act, illustrating Seqrite’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity for enterprises and MSMEs.

Understanding the Surge in Cyber Threats

Vishal noted that India’s cybersecurity landscape is currently shaped by opportunity and vulnerability. The nation’s booming digital economy is projected to contribute significantly to GDP by 2026, yet this growth has outstripped the development of adequate security measures. Cybercriminals are taking advantage of this situation, with the widespread availability of hacking tools and escalating geopolitical tensions leading to more sophisticated attacks on Indian infrastructure.

Rethinking Cybersecurity Strategies

As cyberattacks grow in both precision and complexity, enterprises must adjust their cybersecurity frameworks beyond traditional methods. Vishal mentioned that AI-driven threats, such as the BlackMamba keylogger, signify a shift where malware can adapt to defenses in real-time. Organizations need to prioritize behavior-based detection, which has seen a dramatic increase in recent years, to identify malicious activities based on action patterns rather than static signatures.

Enhancing Security with Innovative Platforms

The Seqrite Malware Analysis Platform (SMAP) and Threat Intelligence (STI) solutions play pivotal roles in proactive threat detection. SMAP employs advanced processing techniques to identify unknown threats, starting with static and dynamic analyses to accurately classify malware types. Meanwhile, STI offers tailored insights into India’s specific threat landscape, making it easier for organizations to focus on relevant vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with emerging regulations.

Leveraging AI and Machine Learning

Seqrite’s solutions, powered by GoDeep.AI, are designed to enhance threat detection and automate responses. This technology identifies patterns that human analysts might miss, detecting potential threats before they escalate. Vishal emphasized that leveraging AI and machine learning is about empowering human decision-making, with a focus on oversight to safeguard against adversarial attacks, all while improving response times for incident management.

Navigating Regulatory Compliance

Compliance with the DPDP Act and global data protection standards is crucial for organizations. Seqrite assists with automated data discovery, allowing businesses to effectively categorize sensitive information across various environments. Their Data Loss Prevention solutions play an essential role in preventing data leaks, ensuring that data remains secure within the organizational framework while facilitating timely incident reporting as required by law.

Looking Ahead: The Vision for Seqrite

Vishal articulated a long-term vision for Seqrite as a key player in India’s digital transformation. The organization aims to provide affordable, AI-powered protection, especially for MSMEs, asserting that robust cybersecurity should be accessible to all. As smart technologies and IIoT continue to grow, Seqrite is focused on operational technology security and aims to set standards for AI safety. Anticipated trends in cybersecurity will demand adaptive defenses, resilience planning, and talent development to secure the future effectively.
